The Breakdown
Paired up for the second time, La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate produced the 2019 Hawaii special edition release for Crowned Heads. With only 5000 sticks produced, this was truly a limited release, so naturally I was excited to get my hands on a few for a good old fashioned breakdown.
This cigar is artful in appearance, with a firm construction as well as showing off the traditional dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf look we have all come to love.
I ran into a few minor burn challenges, one being an abrupt outage and the other a run on the foot in the last 3rd of the cigar, both requiring quick corrections but took no time to get back up and running.
This cigar certainly expressed a myriad of flavors. It seemed as though every half an inch you got something slightly different than you did before, but always returning again at some point in the cigar. Like a chess game is being played in your mouth, this smoke challenges the palate in the best way possible, giving you bright, sweet, and bold dark fruit flavors throughout.
Coming in just slightly under an Alexander Hamilton, this cigar is very reasonably priced for what you get, but good luck getting your hands on one since there are so few in existence.
