The Breakdown
Migdalia is named after Migdalia Sanchez, who is the daughter-in-law of Pedro Gomez. She was born in Guantanamo, Cuba in 1947. Interestingly enough Migdalia graduated from the Habana School of Tobacconists at the young age of 17. Migdalia has received multiple awards for being as one of the best cigar rollers in the world, So it goes without saying, she is a premium cigar badass, and appropriate that this cigar was named in her Honor.
This cigar was well constructed and produced. Subtle veins and overall smooth throughout, it really falls in line with what you would expect out of the Micallef brand. The only noticeable flaw is some excess glue around the band on one sample smoked.. I get it though. When I was younger I had a love for playing with rubber cement in art class. So much so it actually landed me in detention.
This samples smoked superbly. They boasted a nice easy draw, with great smoke production. The icing on the cake though is how consistently even the burn was. So much can go out of bounds on a toro cigar with a 52 ring gauge but these smoked like a petite corona. It may not seem that important, but it plays into the over experience and this one achieved the perfection you always desire in terms of burn.
The flavor (like other Micallef cigars we have had) is creamy and smooth. This one introduces a bit more subtle spice than the others but I quite enjoyed the balance it achieved. The only complaint (if you can call it that) is, we wanted the flavors to be a bit more conspicuous. That great balance seemed to sit in the corner observing the room rather being the life of the party. Either way, we really enjoyed what the Migdalia brought to the table.

You can get your hands on this cigar for just around $8.00 which makes it a pretty damn good deal. There isn’t anything challenging about this cigar, so in terms of recommendation, but really feel there are some out there that may find this cigar to not be in their wheelhouse. If you do grab one, do yourself a favor… Drink it in the morning with a good cup of coffee. You won't regret it.
